What is poverty?

Poverty is just an idea or thought. It is present in the minds of people, specially in developing countries. Now don't get me wrong, these countries have many resources that are yet to be tapped that entrepreneurs can use and give people different jobs. For us to have a better understanding of what poverty is we have to know some things first. As people, our roles in our family is to provide food, shelter and other necessities and these are the reasons why we make a living. In a modern age, this means that we have to make money. Now, very few people seem to understand what money is. Money just like poverty is an idea or thought. As a way for me to make my point. Let's remember our days of schooling. In the old days, people used to trade different things, such as food, clothing and handiwork among many things to interact with each other, then as our trading spread across the world we discovered different varieties of the basic needs (e.g. meat and vegetables which came from the land were traded for fish which came from water). Thus we need a more convenient method. Time came when people used clam shell, or different handy materials that we incorporated with value to make our purchases. Then came the use of coins and paper, much of what we see and touch today. In my observation, not understanding what it is gives poverty. We tend to cling on the material representation rather than seeing that its just a material that society uses to trade.
